If you would like to use any of my images for publication, websites, advertising, research papers, etc. Please reach out to me via FlickrMail or my email: itsbrandoyo@gmail.com. I am very receptive to sharing, I just like to know where they'll end up.

Photography is my therapy, a form of release, a moment to center myself in a crazy world. I am very much a person who shoots what he feels. I prefer shooting alone, driving along country roads with the windows down and the music up. I am very much in my head during this time and when I stumble across things they have to speak to me in order for me to feel I have gotten a good shot. Going into old abandoned places or private plantations I have gained permission to enter gives me a sense of wonder and peace that nothing else could ever come close to. I feel like I can tap into the energy of those who have passed before me. I know this may sound pretentious to some but I honestly mean this all in the most genuine way. I can’t handle large egos, I am into pictures solely for the joy it brings me.

Besides photography I enjoy cinema of all sorts but especially drama, horror, and independent films. Music is another love, again all sorts, but mostly attracted to something mellow or moody but I love anything interesting or different. Sadness fascinates me, I do not love to be sad but I find beauty in the somber, I find that the vulnerability feels raw and compelling, relatable even. Take an abandoned house versus a nicely restored museum quality house and I will take the vulnerability and mystery of the abandoned and weathered any day but do appreciate the museum restored house as it will be around for the future and historic preservation is very important. I thoroughly enjoy reality TV; never in my life did I feel I would become one of those people but I am hooked and watch it often.

I love a good story especially if it involves coming of age or takes place in the South.

All I need in life are good family and friends, great movies, a reliable vehicle, loud music, humor, gas money, and my camera. Everything else just does not matter that much to me.

My Flickr doesn't get updated nearly as often as it should but you can find me on Facebook in four different places: my personal profile of course, my photography page, and two groups related to South Carolina history and beauty that I admin. I am also on Instagram as @itsbrandoyo.
