Originally from Los Angeles, I currently reside in Japan in a town called Kujukuri, famous nationwide for its surfing. I teach English at the three town Elementary Schools here. When I am not at school, I am usually in the water or with camera in hand, documenting my life and surroundings. My flickr page consists mostly of the images I have captured here.

Currently, I shoot with a Nikon D70s

18-70mm f3.5-4.5 (a fine kit lens)

50mm f1.8 (love it!)

80-200mm f2.8 (my new best friend)

60mm f2.8 Micro Nikkor (rivaling the 50mm for my all around prime)

I first met itsathird (real name withheld for reasons to do with national security) while crawling as an amoeba in the malarial swamps of protozoic Grunglefunkst, more commonly known today as Japan. At that time I only knew several words in the English language, prominent amongst them 'Nikon', 'SB600' and 'Ken Rockwell', and itsathird kindly helped me find the underlying connexions between all three. He also taught me a new word - 'strobist', which I still utter regularly in times of creative stagnancy. Time passed and camera evolved, but the amoebas stayed the same. Shooting sessions continued and amoeba discussions ensued over many a beer. I've found itsathird to be fantastic amoeba, and beyond that, he has a brilliant eye, and a raw sense for beauty in the uncommon and unlikely. Technically proficient as well as possessing a limitless reserve of creativity, the photos that itsathird produces are always surprising, consistently striking, and usually excellent. Take the time to squidge and and squodge through his photostream - this is one amoeba's photostream that deserves much more than a cursory look.
