I like to eat photos.

Black and White Squares are my favorite. There's something so plain and simple about black and white that I love. It makes me feel at ease with my photos. Squares have something about them that makes the balance in the photo so perfect. I think the people who invented medium format were geniuses. Who woulda thought?

That said, I don't own a real medium format camera. I have a Diana (from lomo... i wish it were an authentic one T^T) and I WANT a Holga (maybe 35mm?) but my true desire is some sort of TLR~ Maybe a rollei, maybe a mamiya. Theres something about film that's so innocent about them. Yeah its expensive and doesnt "develop" as fast as digital, but I feel like it captures the world as it is. Its more real than digital.

My hero? probably David Burnett. I am a sports and photojournalist by trade (I shot for the National Veteran Wheelchair Games as their head newletter photographer amongst professionals with BIG WHITE LENSES for the last two years, and it was quite life changing...) and I always felt there was something missing. Something that made it too easy, and David Burnett showed me what it was. It was the realness. The genuine aspect was missing. Mr. Burnett shoots PRESIDENTS with old 50 year old large format cameras and dinky $30 plastic holgas. What difference does that make? It makes a world of difference. His photojournalism show exactly what it feels like and looks like to be there. It has realness in the photos- something digital can't really do...

So why do I love film? For its realness. Its innocence. Its purity. Yeah I shoot mostly digital because I have to (if I ever get a TLR, my 50D might collect dust in its shelf), but I always dream and see in film.

I dream and see the world in black and white squares.

BTW, im a good contact- comment and fav me, ill return the favor :3

Sean is really nice :D I like that he is interested in photography. I like how he likes the same lens I do (70-200 f/2.8). I like his natural, non competitive pictures. I hope me and him (he and I?...grammer wrong) can continue our collab project. Sean is REALLY nice...I must say that again. I like that he's one of my… Read more

I hope me and him (he and I?...grammer wrong) can continue our collab project. Sean is REALLY nice...I must say that again. I like that he's one of my Flickr contacts. He also takes cute pictures...like his ramen noodle one. His pictures are sometimes humorous and make me laugh. And he probably doesn't care that I'm being so blunt right now. ANYWAYS: I like Sean Lee's pictures and personality! You should too.
