The Idaho State Archives (ISA) currently holds a large collection of over 100,000 images that either relate to Idaho’s transportation history or originated with the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD). Most of the images are within two collections, AR 24 and MS 281, but there are transportation images in a number of other collections. While a few of these images have been indexed, ITD approached the Idaho State Historical Society with the idea of creating a database of images for not only agency-wide use, but also using many of the images for another database available to the public. Also, in addition to the images held at the ISA, all images at the main and regional offices will be included in the scanning project and in the final database. Currently, over 12,000 images have been scanned during the course of the project that began in July 2012. The collection you can see here feature the amazing variety of the pictures taken over the last 95 years all over the state of Idaho!
