In junior high school I took a course on black and white photography but it never really caught my interest. It was fun but it never turned into a hobby.

Fast forward 10 years later and I'm married with a child on the way. I purchase my first digital camera, an Epson PhotoPC 750Z. It was expensive at the time and had a whopping 2.1 megapixels. It was used mostly for snapshots in the 'green square' (full auto) mode for about a year until, for some reason, I decided to take some 'artsy fartsy' photos.

That caught on. I started enjoying the act of making photos rather than just taking photos. Within a few months I scrounged up enough money to upgrade to a Canon EOS D30 Digital SLR.

The 'green square' mode became unused after maybe 20 exposures. Now that I had a camera with real control I wanted to use it. Photography became a passion at this time. I went out every day before work to find something to shoot. I was hooked.

I now own a Canon 10D (Converted to dedicated Infrared Photography), and a 5D.

What you see on this site is the result of this progression...

An offsite gallery of my photos ordered by "interestingness" is available. Here's a listing of my photos that made it on the flickr 'Explore' page.

I think Ian was the deciding factor in my switch to digital. I simply did not beleive it could look so good. I was framing a picture for him and it looked like medium format film. To learn it was only from six megapixels I was sold. Then I relized it wasnt just the megapixels his skill in the lightroom is of the highest level. I still look to him for his teaching and I am good at what I do so he must be fricken great.

It's taken a while to get this testimonial in but it's arrived at last. I first looked at this selection of photos months ago. I then considered it to be a stream that shows a love for photography, and the infinite diversity it can capture. And nothing has changed in the intervening time. I still come back to Iso100s images regularly and find images that grab my eye to be his. It has been a real pleasure looking at his work and look forward to seeing more in the future.
