Fuse Collective
Drag to set position!
Founded in 2006, Fuse Collective is a multi-disciplinary student organization that strives to design and shape the future of sustainability. Our belief is that a sustainable future will be the outcome of collaborative efforts at the intersection of energy, the environment, business, design, entrepreneurship and a clear understanding of social and cultural impact. We strive to create hands-on experiences and learning opportunities for students to create a real, meaningful impact on their community - both on a local and global context.
We think big.
From the beginning, our organization has been made up of students that are passionate about building high-caliber, high-impact initiatives. We want to build portfolios that represent the future we stand for. We believe in learning by doing. We believe the greater the impact we can make, the more we will learn; the more we will grow. We strive to create initiatives that are have a big vision and can rally students to make a real difference on the future of sustainability.
We are multidisciplinary.
To make an impact on the future of sustainability requires a systems thinking approach. It requires a holistic understanding of energy, the environment, the economy, politics, human and social behaviour. Our aspiration is to provide students with a broad knowledge base and aperture for seeing real-world opportunities and challenges. Powered by an open collective culture, Fuse is an entrepreneurial student team that rejects boundaries between disciplines, people, and geography. We bring students from all faculties together to create truly multi-disciplinary initiatives.
We walk the talk.
Since its inception, Fuse has fostered the creation of some truly innovative and transformative initiatives. On an annual basis, we host the highly acclaimed Gala Dinner which brings together students with influential industry professionals. Our education sessions and tours provide students with practical, hands-on education to broaden your mindset. In 2008, Fuse members came together to create the internationally recognized International Student Energy Summit (ISES). ISES ran its first event in Calgary and has since gone on to host events in Vancouver and Norway. The next ISES will be held in 2015 in Indonesia. Fuse also fostered the creation of the Alberta Solar Decathlon. This year, we are doubling down on creating high-impact initiatives through Fuse Labs.
We have an unmatched network.
Our organization is supported by a growing network of alumni, sponsors, board members and partnering organizations. Our supporters have enabled us to dream and think big. As an organization, we strive to create opportunities to connect our amazing network with our student members. At the end of the day, "who you know" can be more important than "what you know". And we know a lot of people. Our sponsors in the past have included companies such as: Cenovus, Total, Enmax, Shell, Suncor.
