My name is Isabella Strohmeier Presicek and I am of Slovenian descent. I have lived in numerous Asian countries and most recently Malaysia, where I am attending an international school.

The many cultures I have been exposed to have been a constant inspiration for me.

During year 12, I was less confident with my abilities and did not experiment much. I preferred working on small-scale pieces. During that year I created most of my illustrations such as “Romeo + Juliette” and “Life and Death”.

In year 13, with the arrival of a new teacher, I gained confidence and stopped worrying about making mistakes. I then created some of my biggest and favorite pieces such as “Triangle” and “Azrael”.

I am very interested in contemporary illustrators and painters such as Sylvia J. and Audrey Kawasaki. However, I also have great admiration for Art Nouveau especially Alphonse Mucha, who had inspired me to start my small scale detailed work of year 12. Through my personal interest in body art, I have discovered that tattoo illustration art as one of my main influences, that have lead me to create the pieces Azrael – A series of artworks , sculpture, painting and silkscreen prints – on the same subject.

Most of my pieces would fall into the area of symbolism mainly on the theme of Life and Death. My interest in this field is reflected in many of my pieces, even if unintentionally. Through my last piece “Azrael” I discovered that I am very interested in large-scale sculpture, because of it’s great impact and the freedom the artist has in the amount of detail he or she puts into it, which in turn can create extremely realistic sculptures: a field in which I would like to continue working in the future.
