Artist Nancy Hiss has embarked on a years long project to write the names of every coalition member who has died in Iraq. The purpose of the work is to to honor sacrifice and recognize interdependence. The names of dead coalition men and women will be woven into the fabric of Portland Oregon and it's neighborhoods. The names will be listed chronologically by the date of death. Only last names will be listed to honor the sacrifice of individuals and their families. As you reflect on these names also remember the hundreds of thousands of nameless Iraqis and others who have been scarred by this war. I will try to work on this every day, until the madness ends, and all are honored.
