According to the ancient Greeks, the concept of "time" is divided into two types, "Chronos" and "Kairos".

 

"Chronos" represents a linear time that is chronological. A sequential time that carries a quantitative quality.

 

"Kairos" signifies a specific and qualitative concept. A pin point in time. A supreme moment.

 

In a way, photography follows closely to the notion of "Kairos", it often attempts to capture a perfect timing, creating a replica of a perfect moment.
