i/o/lab Centre for Future Art in Stavanger is run by artist Hege Tapio. Founded in 2001, i/o/lab has been located at the art facility Tou Scene since 2005. The center produces and mediates art that is related to new technologies and science, and organizes the Article Biennial and Public Art Screens, among other programs.

i/o/lab advocates for the arts and new technologies in the region. The organization is affiliated with the national network Production Network for Electronic Arts (PNEK) and has gradually built up a large international network within the field.

The activity of i/o/lab can be divided into two sections:

1) Art projects and exhibitions that touch upon new technology and science are mediated to a larger audience in the region through the programs Article Biennale and Public Art Screens.

2) Artistic research and development with focus on art, new technology and science. i/o/lab works with enhancing competence and developing knowledge in the field through presentations, activities and different forms of regional, national and international collaborations. i/o/lab also works with regional institutions and businesses.

i/o/lab’s objective is to provide innovative and artistic projects, and to create meeting places between art and research for a variety of audiences in the region. A large part of the organization’s projects are based on the dissemination of art in public spaces.
