When I look at Matt's photos I'm always conscious of the fact that he's an artist. It shows in all of his work no matter what the subject. We can all see beautiful things, but an artist can amplify what we see. It can happen by tweaking the angle, using dof as a sort of "canvas" or just catching a fleeting moment in a child's face. It's sort of like "turning up" the volume! Yeah, Matt has great volume control! I also am in awe of anyone that can renovate an old building and truly make it a place where you would love to live. Looking at the before and after photos really tells you something about Matt. He's definitely a "do-er!" I hope to continue seeing his work and encourage him to continue painting too (when you have time, right?). He's definitely someone I would call a friend through flickr.
