I am an ecologist and invertebrate specialist. I have published identification guides to Harvestmen (Opiliones), Millipedes (Diplopoda), Centipedes (Chilopoda) and Woodlice (Isopoda) of Britain. With colleagues I have also most recently published an atlas of Dragonflies (Odonata) in the Sheffield area. Many of the images from those guides can be seen here, plus further additions to enhance and update them. I am passionate about wildlife, photography and sharing skills with the next generation of field naturalists.

My most recent work has included delivering training courses on a variety of invertebrate groups for National Museums Liverpool/Tanyptera Trust and the Field Studies Council. I have also been Ecological Monitoring Officer for Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust, researcher of urban ecology and bird reproduction at the University of Sheffield and was Senior Curator of Natural History at Museums Sheffield for over 25 years.
