Susanna implies that she is “only” an “amateur.” But the English word “amateur” comes from the Latin root "amatorem," which means "lover." She has been photographing (as of this writing) for only a little over 18 months, yet she demonstrates a level of art and expertise that, in my opinion, is nothing short of astonishing. If you look at only one set, look at “Dreamstones.” Study the way she uses light. Study her composition. For those who think that cameras matter, note that these are all made with a little Nikon P5000, a much disparaged point-and-shoot, which proves a point that I have been making for many years: cameras have little to do with photography except as a recording device. It’s the mind and vision behind the camera that matters. Susanna is also a singer and a poet, and her photographs are both poetry and music. Susanna is an artist! I was a working professional photographer for much of my life, and I can’t do anything like this (I wish I could). Susanna, Vi saluto!
