I am a British amateur photographer who lives in Spain. I am a veterinarian but unfortunately due to the economic downturn I mostly teach English.

I've never considered myself an artistic person, whilst my mother is extremely talented and can draw and paint beautifully! I always envied that and perhaps photography is the way I have to express myself artistically. I still think I don't have much of an "artistic eye" but I thoroughly enjoy taking photographs!

I started with a Nikon D40 and built a collection of lenses, mostly second-hand. Even though the D40 is a wonderful camera, very handy and takes excellent photos, I was missing some of the features the bigger or newer cameras had, specially when taking photos of sport.

On holiday in the Canary Islands we saw that the cameras were much cheaper there (the tax is lower) so my boyfriend convinced me to buy the D300s! It's a beast of a camera and I'm still learning how to use it! It's like starting all over again!

I still consider myself a beginner of some sorts and try to improve every day!
