This site was created by Doc Searls for researchers studying infrastructure (mostly of the broadcast kind) when he and Christian Sandvig were both fellows at Harvard's Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society.

Of special interest to Doc is what's happening to the transmitting side of over-the-air broadcasting, which he believes is slowly fading away: TV eaten by cable/satellite and OTT (over the top) subscription services, and radio eaten on the music side by streaming and on the talk side by podcasts. His pictures of towers, antennas and transmitters have a documentary purpose: to show the future what broadcasting looked like where the waves hit the air.
