My ideal photo is one with lots of information throughout the frame, one that you can get something new out of every time you look at it, as Pannini and Piranesi did, and as Charles Sheeler did in his photos, especially the River Rouge series. Lots of organization but with non-uniform patterns embedded. Bits of chaos to be visually fun for the eyes, an almost fractal image that is interesting at different viewing magnifications. Sometimes an M.C. Escher-esque "which end is up?" moment or two...
