A wonderful photographer and an all around great guy. I love visiting Steve's stream for its diverse subject matter- he offers everything from deep and thought provoking, to beautiful and delicate, to silly and fun. He shares his world and offers us his unique perspective. But what makes Steve truly special is not just his skills as a photographer. He is also a great friend and supporter who always has a kind word and a smile to give. He inspires me in so many ways and I am truly blessed to call him my friend.

What I love most about Watari Goro’s photography is how it collectively shows us glimpses of who he is, how he perceives the things around him, and where he is from, all of which are uniquely captivating. His photos have a decidedly local flavor to them, capturing the essence of Honolulu without pretense or any kitschy, touristy feel. Through his eyes, we can see much of the beauty of this city – sometimes gritty, sometimes unsettling, but always real and honest. He is certainly one of my favorite photographers on Flickr, and I always look forward to his new work (not to mention, his very friendly and inspiring comments!).
