When I'm not being a Photographer, I'm a former Applied biologist / biochemist, working as a Linux Sysadmin for high performance computing in chemistry / bioinformatics...wishing I was photographing things. In the boardgame 'Trivial pursuit' , I usually did best with the green pie questions, Science and Nature and that's what I like to photograph. I like an uncluttered simple image. I was hugely inspired by what David Hobby did for lighting with off camera flash and consider myself a disciple of 'the strobist'. on Instagram.com/daturanight

I started with and East German film camera .. Praktica Nova B, and after a love affair with Canon 500N, 10D, 5D, G10, s110 my bag got too heavy and my wallet too light.

luckily Fuji created the X-T1 which is a joy to use and it feels like shooting with the Praktica again.

In 'Lockdown' I updated my now quite shabby X-T1 to a X-T4 which is even more of a joy to use!

Science and Nature, Macro, fungi and nice lighting but at work I get to shoot events and people which is fun too.

I believe is was nickwheeleroz's stream that lead me to Ian's. The two had an affinity for off camera lighting and I was just stepping into it at the time. Ian's shots captivate me. He has an ability to control every aspect of light and turn everyday objects into things that look... well... freak'n awesome! He's also not the kind of guy who just sticks to one genera and thus his stream is always interesting. But better yet, Ian shares his techniques through lighting notes as setup shots so that we may all grow as strobists and photographers.
