I am widowed, a historical researcher, librarian, and a shoemaker. I'm also a guy who likes to take a lot of pictures.
I also collect pictures, usually vintage.
I started shooting in High School, in the late 70s, and set it aside except for a lot of Instamatic shots. I started shooting more regularly in the late 90s, and have been broadening my styles and scope.
I have extremely eclectic tastes and shoot both digital and film. I use a Sony Alpha 350, a Canon PowerShot A630, a Nikon D80, although my cell phones have a camera which gets used occasionally. For film, I use a Minolta X7A and a Minolta X700, both of which are elderly 35mm; and recently have been working with a box Brownie 2A from c1919, and a folding Brownie 2A autographic. I also shoot pinholes with a P-Sharon and a Zero. I use color, I use black and white. Generally these days, the digitals are with me all the time and the film are used when I am planning on shooting, but this can change without warning.
I try to only shoot in camera, and pretty much only use photo editing software to straighten and crop, although I will use other techniques if they are called for (e.g. stitching panoramas together).
I shoot pictures of history and history related things (historical sites, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Tulsa Race Riot related things, museums, cemeteries, ghost signage, urban scenes, graffiti, ruins, abandoned places, vintage vehicles, re-enactors (and the SCA)), I also collect historical photographs taken by other people and share that collection. Non-historically, I take pictures of landscapes, sunsets, thunderstorms, artsy shots, miscellaneous places I've been too, and on rare occasions, critters and vegetation (if I think they look interesting). I do not, as a rule, take pictures of people, although I do shoot portraits. I also take a nauseating amount of photos of shoemaking tools and techniques, and other things that absolutely uninteresting to most normal people. Most of these are unlikely to appear in this account (in fact, 80-90 percent of what I shoot doesn't appear here).
I do share most of my vintage photo collection.
