Very well then I contradict myself…” I don’t remember the context, but one of my favorite supervisors said this to me, quoting Whitman, likely about something not work related, and it has stuck with me since. This is quite evident in my photography. I’m a Social Worker and while I don’t do direct practice work, the nature of my work is very person centered. My photography on the other hand, is almost entirely devoid of people, though rife with evidence of human existence (urban landscapes, graffiti, iconography, and the like). I blame it on being a Gemini. Or I would if I believed in astrology. “Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself,” and will likely continue to do so.
