I used to be an avid photographer almost 30yrs ago developing my own B&W film and printing my own prints but I just fell outta love with it and still not sure why.
I used to exhibit with friends in and around the Manchester area but that was in the 80's well before digital. The cameras stayed in the bag and the developing equipment gathered dust for the next 20yrs or so.
I joined the digital revolution in the late 90's and carried on taking photos along with the iPhone. However it didn't really grab me at all despite having two digital cameras. However a few days ago (March 13 2011) I downloaded the Lomo app onto my iPhone and yesterday at lunchtime i just started snapping away and it just seemed to spark me up again.
18 months later I am now also shooting using film as i picked up a whole stash of film cameras SLR and compacts online after my good lady gave away my old cameras to the charity shop. I'm amazed at being able to pick up items i could never afford back in the day for next to nothing. I am back to developing my black and white film and i'm currently thinking about setting up the darkroom again so i can print.
I like the convenience in some respects of digital but I love film, the canister, the negative, the holding of a print. I've fallen back in love with my photography again but this time it's for keeps.
I shoot in 35mm using cheap film but medium format is my true love just for the quality of image. I will shoot anything really but i have a passion for the urban environment as a city has a million photos waiting to be taken. I don't really do street photography however i enjoy portraiture in medium format. Hey i still shoot digital but that's mainly on my smartphone.
Currently working on my first 100 page photobook (march, 2015). It's difficult selecting what will go in it.
