Founded in July of 2011, I Can Learn is a new education based nonprofit organization seeking to supplement daytime classroom instruction with after-school tutoring, mentoring, counseling, and night classes. Our purpose is to tackle the public sector problems of illiteracy and educational deficiency in the Golden Triangle region of southeast Texas by working in conjunction with school districts, school boards, superintendents, principals, teachers, students, parents, businesses, local organizations, and nonprofit organizations in the area to build a bottom-up coalition centered on the development and implementation of new and innovative ways to teach children and adults; thereby, enhancing community literacy, increasing community involvement, promoting community safety, and fostering new opportunities for economic development.
