Geologist and traveller. Being a geologist gave me the opportunity to visit some amazing places in Australia, and particularly my home state of Queensland. It also gives me a deeper appreciation of landscapes and what has shaped them. I retired from full-time work in August 2014 to do lots more travelling. Although when it comes to overseas travel, we are Europhiles, my wife and I took the opportunity to see as much as possible of the United States while our son and daughter were living there. I enjoy being part of the Flickr community and discovering wonderful images and trying to analyse what makes them so great
