I've been taking photos as a hobby for years and started taking it a bit more seriously after getting my first digital SLR (a Pentax K110D) and I'm always looking to improve. I tend to take landscape and wildlife photos most of the time, but I'd love to get better at portraits.

My background is in digital video so I find it interesting to work with this different medium. The challenge for me is to tell a complete story in one frame (a photo) rather than over several minutes (a video).

I'm in awe of some of the collections I've seen on Flickr by people who just take photos for fun, let alone the professionals. It's very inspiring to be a part of the Flickr community.
