::EXCITING UPDATES AT THE BOTTOM::
I'm interested in creating. It helps me through a lot of difficult times that otherwise feel rather dark. Photography and Photoshop, along with many other forms of art, have always interested me. However, I felt intimidated to try for a very long time. I've been in a band for sixteen years, and during that time, I obtained an MFA in Creative Writing. Through that experience, I found myself constantly surrounded by artists, musicians, photographers, painters, writers, and just about any kind of artist imaginable. That said, as a member of the band and as someone constantly immersed in my writing, I grew to heavily depend on others when it came to various creative aspects of the band outside of the music. This became one of those things where I was so grateful to have the help and the right people around, but I was never 100% satisfied, not because the artists or photographers did a poor job...quite the opposite. I think it's just that it's hard to have an idea in your head and no idea how to translate that idea 100% accurately to whomever you're working with.
Over the last few years, I came to the realization that I could and SHOULD take my time and learn how to hone as many creative abilities as possible. I built my own studio in my apartment, and I've officially named it Home Bar Productions, so I could write and record music myself. In addition, I got my hands on a video camera and a DSLR and a powerful computer that could handle everything I've ever wanted to learn. I've begun to record, I've begun writing short films with members of my newfound creative collective and the pieces are scored with music I or we write and record, and I've fallen in love with photography.
Since the inception of this idea, I've been learning all I can about photography. I want to shoot some great stuff, and I hope to get some feedback from many of the incredible photographers here on Flickr. It would help me learn faster and that's what I really want. Thanks for reading and thanks for looking!
UPDATE: Since I wrote this description a year ago, A LOT has happened, both in my creative life and my personal life. I got my hands on two new cameras, we've began adapting a short story I had published two years ago into a trans-media piece, and my band, T.W.i.N.E. put on our first show in over four and half years and it sold out in 12 days, two months before we hit the stage. We've also begun to produce our own uncensored LIVE online TV show called, AWESOME TALK!
