I owe my passion for photography to my thamma (granny) who used to show me her collection of albums every now and then since I was a toddler. They are really a treasure box of some superb captures mostly in black and white, from portraits and group photos to sceneries of the then Burma (Myanmar, my father's family used to stay there), India, Sri Lanka, European countries and UK.

My Jethu, Mr. Bimal Datta, my father's elder brother was a great photographer who is still my inspiration, my teacher, my guide in the field of photography. I try to follow his style of shooting, he liked to shoot people in a casual mood, when they are not giving a perfect pose and I too like to do so. its my misfortune that he left early when I was still in my high school and didn't get his physical guidance when I got my first camera, a Kodak kb10 when I was in my college. But still he is the one I follow.

I found few more good photographers as my friends and colleagues specially Subhankar da, who helped me a lot by giving vital tips and motivating me.

I mostly used my Motorola cellphones as my camera after the Kodak kb10. In 2010 Dec, my cousin sister gifted me a Nikon coolpix which I used till this Jan of 2017 when I bought my latest Motorola G4+ handset. Since then I am using my Motorola phone to take images and simply loving it 😊
