Photography has been a hobby since I was 11 years old. That means I have been snapping photos for a very long time.

I retired in January 2011 after a total of 38 years with the US Army that ended after 25 years in Combat Development as a Civilian consultant.

I lean toward being more technical than artistic; I would like to be more artistic. I'm generally more impressed by photos that are very sharp and are of interesting subjects.

If I'm asked what kind of photographs I like to shoot best I generally say it's whatever catches my eye. However, I do like night shots, bridges, downtown and people. People are not my strong suite though.

Almost none of my photos are straight out of the camera. I use Lightroom and crop almost everything. As of 2023 I have been using

Luminar Neo and have had trouble with the basics. But, once in, it seems very good. I wish there was a local class that was reasonably priced. There are a lot of on line classes, but they start off beyond my level.

I'm not drawn to B&W I think because during my earlier years I had a "bathroom" darkroom where I could only process B&W. So, when I was able to do color, it just made all the difference to me. I do think many industrial things and some people shots are very good in B&W; flowers and nature don't do anything for me in B&W.
