The purpose of this website is to share some of my photographs. My goals are to document images of train stations, people, trains and railroad landscape in the early part of the 21st century. In some situations I call myself a railroad photographer but my focus is less on train equipment; i.e. smoking locomotives pulling a grade, but rather my interest is in the cultural and physical geography of passenger rail travel in the United States. Since I work primarily in California my images reflect that geography. I have received awards at the college I attend, Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill California where there is a photography program in the art department. My inspiration to make photographic art is from Nicole White who is a DVC professor and department head.

My original camera endeavor was on track and field competition, focusing on athletes, their fans, families and friends; because I have experience as an accomplished high hurdler and hurdle coach. My inspiration for my early style came from a personal friend and wonderful teacher, Rob "Shawdog" Helfman. Rob maintains a superlative catalog of photos to chronicle Crenshaw High School sports (LA Calif) here on Flikr. See www.shawdog.com .

I hope these pictures are be enjoyed by all. Happy train rides!
