I am a gyneco-oncologist of the Taiwan Sun Yat-Sen Cancer Center, seeked to get away from the hideousness that I have to face everyday. In 2001, I found a refuge from the daily combat with cancers, the underwater realm, where I started to capture the beauty with photography.

I love macro photography as I often discover in pictures the details that are too petit to observe in real life. When reviewing those pictures, I feels like I am going over the same dive again, with an additional opportunity to study the critter's unique features in full details, which were frequently ignored by the naked eyes. I am especially interested in the intricate relationships between various elements. The behavior of the creatures fascinate me immensely.

My wife, Pan Yu-Wen, plays an important role as dive buddy and assistant. Pan's profound knowledge in underwater creatures enables her to identify and locate critters that are well disguised.

To me, scuba diving is a relaxing way to escape from my everyday chores and re-align myself with more important perspectives (as in diving). Being in touch with nature always reminds me that there is more to life than the complicated issues that hit me on a daily hospital working routine.
