I just discovered this work. If you arrayed these images in front of me, and told me it was a group show of many talented photographers, I would beleive you. What I can't beleive is that one artist composed all of these images. There is nothing particularly exotic about the subject matter. They are scenes taken from everyday life. But there is this unbeleivable tension between the people and the environment. The figures represent and are sympathetic with their surroundings in ways that they clearly don't realize. The shots are not cinematic because they don't need images on either side in a reel to render the essence of the story. Whether it is the woman getting her portrait done on the street, or the child in the bright coat scooting blithely through a grey, rundown blockface, or the cheetah taking time from its relentless pacing only to consider the photographer as prey, these photos are gestalts. I will stop there. I want to get back to the his stream and see more.
