Horse Guards Parade's 'flickr' is a documentary portrait of the legendary underground musician James Waudby. A man full of balls, fury, and booze. James has a surprisingly tender set of images, like an undercooked chicken. There is extraordinary archival footage of gigs, drunken debauchery, belligerence, profanity, and occasional bouts of coherence. At gigs Waudby barks out requests for more booze and threatens audience members. At an infamous performance, a drunk and always sardonic James said: “You have my soul and I have your money.” This flickr depicts an unexpectedly compassionate image of the man. “Some people never go crazy, what truly horrible lives they must lead.”
