One of my earliest memories is being covered in flour, baking fairy cakes and cheese straws (good combination!) with my mum and dad. Growing up my dad made fantastic birthday cakes from hedgehogs to houses, clowns to caterpillars. Every family occasion saw a cake of some sort appear from the kitchen.
Inspired by this whenever I got the chance I’d be in the kitchen baking away making yummy cakes for my friends & family and have continued the family tradition of making special birthday cakes for a growing army of nephews.
As demand grew I decided to be brave and spread the word about my love for all things cake to the wider masses and so Honeybee Cakes was born!
Since those first tentative baking steps I’ve become a qualified cake decorator and have made a whole host of cakes, from a football for a footie mad 9 year, a pink present for a pink obsessed 30 year old and a fantastically spooky Halloween cake for…well… Halloween!
Oh and in case you’re wondering “why honeybees?” Well, I think they’re amazing little creatures (who are sadly under threat) and they are also the symbol of Manchester (where Honeybee Cakes lives).
