Like many photographers, I started out by picking up my father's SLR, back in the days when shooting film was the only option. I honed my craft by annoyingly taking photos of everything my friends did throughout high school, but then life got in the way and I was forced to put the camera down. Somewhere between then and now, I completed a B.A.(Hon.) from Carleton and an M.Ed. from the University of Vermont in fields that have nothing to do with art or photography (Business Law and Higher Education & Student Affairs Administration, respectively if you're curious).
I work in post-secondary education by profession, but am an image maker by passion.
The only time I don't have a camera with me is when I'm asleep, and even then, it's not too far away. My eyes are, paradoxically, drawn to order in the lines, angles, and symmetry of abstract minimalism in architecture and urban scenery, but at the same time, also to the unpredictability and almost infinite expression of emotion of the human face in street photography and portraiture. But why try and explain it through words when you can see it for yourself?
