協會前身為香港殘疾人奧委會暨傷殘人士體育協會，於 1972年創立。協會使命是培育本地殘疾運動員及提升其競技水平，締造體育成就。目前正積極發展及推廣11項殘疾人運動項目，包括射箭、田徑、羽毛球、硬地滾球、草地滾球、射擊、游泳、乒乓球、保齡球、輪椅籃球及輪椅劍擊。

Sports Association for the Physically Disabled of Hong Kong, China, was previously named the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee & Sports Association for the Physically Disabled. Since its establishment in 1972, it has been working with the aim of enabling local Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence. The Association develops and promotes the following 11 types of Para sports: Para archery, Para athletics, Para badminton, boccia, Para lawn bowls, shooting Para sport, Para swimming, Para table tennis, Para tenpin bowling, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair fencing.
