I obtained my Ph.D. from the Department of Ecology & Biodiversity, The University of Hong Kong in 2003, having spent a long time (six years in the end) studying the moths found in Hong Kong - my thesis is available online.
I worked between 2001 and 2011 as a Senior Conservation Officer (p/t from 2003) at Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden, Hong Kong, and from 2003 as a p/t self employed consultant (specialising in wildlife & sustainable living publishing, editorial, conservation management and invertebrate recording), which is now my main work, having gone full time as the director of C&R Wildlife in Jan 2012. I am also trying to find time to complete a book on the moths of Hong Kong, in between the work, family, natural history and internet.
If I haven't responded to posts by contacts, my apologies - I really don't have enough time to spend hours a day on just Flickr, as I moderate or run several moth forums as well. My own website hasn't been properly updated in ages and is being transferred to a new domain (Yahoo are shutting Geocities in October 2009) - www.hkmoths.com. I will try to respond, though it may take a while (several months is quite possible)...please bear with me whilst I try to juggle too many commitments with too little time!
Camera history:
1982-2003 : Olympus OM30 (still have it, though haven't used it since going digital).
1989-2004 : Sony videocam (Hi8) - didn't use it anything like as much as I thought I would when I bought it. Gave it to a friend in 2004.
2003-2008 : Nikon Coolpix E5000. a respectable point & shoot with good macro, though slow and frustrating at times, especially when using the flash. It's finally died - electric circuitry and the LCD viewscreen have ground to a halt and will cost more to repair than the camera's worth.
2007-present : bought a Nikon D80 in December 2007. With a 50mm macro I'm getting much better results now than with the E5000. Much more hard disk space required, though :(
