After using my friends Nikon D30 at one of my other friends wedding, and seeing that in 2 seconds with no experience I could take very good photos (compared to my small hand held digital camera), I started to look into what to buy.

Quickly either the Nikon D40x and Canon 400d became the choice, I choose the Canon, mainly because of the ease of use and adjustment in the eye piece being more granular, I also appreciated the extra focus points.

It wasn't long before I realised the bundled lens was holding me back (thanks to the magazines and other photographic friends!)
