I suppose I inherited my love for taking photos from my Mom, who is the family historian. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I am also of Asian descent ;) It's been both a blessing and a curse - since I am known as the photographer in my circle of friends, no one else bothers to bring along their camera anymore, and thus rely on me to print/e-mail them my shots.
I have been a member of flickr since '04, but never actually used it too much. I use smugmug to host most of my family photos, and ringo to share photos with friends, so the last thing I needed was another place to upload photos.
However, I decided last week (late April '08) to start using flickr to showcase my favorite photos. My personal philosophy regarding photography is "Out of quantity, comes quality". As a result, I take a lot of photos. I suppose I need to take more, since I am sorely hurting in my number of quality shots. :(
I enjoy looking through others photos, with the belief that it might help me develop a better eye towards composition, design, and determining what makes a photo "work". I am constantly amazed at the quality of the shots I see here on flickr, and they are definitely inspiring.
