Zhang Yan (1986) is a young visual artist and media designer, who has just achieved her master degree on Media Design and Communication in Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam. She comes from Shanghai, China, a huge city melting together diverse cultures. She is fascinated in traditional Chinese culture, attempting to better understand her own background, while hoping to carry forward the art aesthetic. Yan’s works now focus mainly on short animation, and use mixed-media technique to combine reality and fantasy within one single image.
