I am based in Albury (NSW, Australia) and consider myself to be a photographic artist. In my recent work I am aspiring to interpret cultural heritage elements through the visual arts. My interests are in cultural documentary photography using both standard and TTV imagery.

My ART PHOTOGRAPHY can be found under the FLICKR account ausphoto

All my images are copyright. If you are interested in obtaining an art print, or seek permission to publish, please contact me.

GROUPS and CONTACTS

In order to ensure a wide audience, I post my images to a number of groups, depending on the subject matter of the image. Thus I seem to be a 'member' of quite a large number of groups. There are only two dozen groups, however, to which I regularly post my images.

I am keeping my contact list to 100. More, I think is unsustainable if I am supposed to comment on your work once in a while (or more frequently).

If you were a contact and have been dropped, no hard feelings, but it's either because you haven't posted images for a long long while or haven't been interacting with my own images.

It was his huge beast of a camera that caught my attention at a street market in Saipan in February last year. Dirk was training his camera on a vendor arranging vegetables and fruits. A few days later, I had to take his photo for an article I was writing and it took me so many attempts before I finally snapped one that was ‘passable’. My hands were shaking so much from nervousness because I know I was shooting a pro. Dirk sees the world in an extraordinary way that produces thousands of incredible photos and transports the viewer to where the photos were taken. Scrolling through Dirk’s photo stream is like going to a buffet where you can enjoy a smorgasbord of varied subjects and you will not want to stop until you’ve seen everything. There’s no definite distinction to Dirk’s photos because if you brand him with any particular style, he comes up with an entirely unique presentation even of the most ordinary things around. Dirk is very patient and ready to share his knowledge in photography, giving tips, suggestions and encouragements to beginners. Keep on posting Dirk. Can’t wait to see your latest additions!
