Clive Bowd. BSc. (Hons). Heritage Consultant..
Drag to set position!
I'm passionate about our built heritage (within the UK that is), and my flickr page reflects this. You'll find my varied interests within the albums posted here ranging from local vernacular architecture, archeological sites and finds, antiques and coins. The albums are listed alphabetically, as are their contents, and I am adding to some of them on a regular basis. Where possible I like to pass on my enthusiasm and knowledge to others and am always happy to discuss and answer any questions where I can concerning finds and discoveries.
Born and brought up in Swindon, my formative years were spent walking and exploring the chalk downlands, with moves to Salisbury and later Hastings during my time working in the retail jewellery business in the 1970's. A change in career took me onto the railways and then into handicrafts. For many years I lived in the Isle of Arran, Scotland, during which time I ran my own craft workshop specialising in hand-spinning and weaving. During that time I was heavily involved in the running of the Isle of Arran Heritage Museum, my work with them, also my involvement in local field archaeology, led to me being invited to become a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, Scotland. Later, as a mature student, I took my BSc. (Hons) degree in Heritage Conservation at Bournemouth University.
Now retired from my Heritage Consultancy work, I mainly carry out voluntary consultancy work (coin identification for my local Oxfam shop in Kendal being of primary importance to me just now) and private research, that and writing articles and books. Currently I have three e-books/paperbacks published: Tales of The Ridgeway, Recollections of a British Rail, Southern Railway train guard in the early 1980's and Morgana's Gold (my first historic action adventure novel). These are available on Kindle and through Amazon. See my e-book album for more details.
