I'm a film student working on my thesis documentary, and trying to keep a hand in with photography so I don't forget everything I learned about stills.
I have a Lumix LX3 which I use most of the time, but have discovered that it produces a lot of distortion when photographing faces up close. I use a Canon Rebel XTi with a 50mm lens for portraits, which are nonetheless still really snapshots. I recently got a number of older film cameras which may or may not work, and a one Canon which does, so I am trying to shoot film as well -- it's much better practice, since the autofocus is broken! I also develop it at home in the bathroom (sometimes with coffee) when I have the time, which is not often these days. For my doc I am shooting on a Canon 7D.
