I love living near the sea and being high up on a hillside we get fantastic views of the coast. I love anything nautical and the sea gives me inspiration in my art & crafts, beachcombing and photography being my favourite pastimes. I can do both of these with my young son in his backpack.

I have been taking photos for a long time since I got my first Kodak camera at the age of 9 or 10. I used a 35mm film (what's film?) SLR but now it's my husband's DSLR that I take everywhere. I don't know where to start on all that technical nonsense - I believe basic photography is the art of composition and light, like art. You can take a photo of anything, or paint anything but if you have the interesting viewpoint and/or lighting (natural is best) then it will make your image stand out from the rest.

My images have been altered very little on the computer and I just do the minimum - ie. levelling horizons, cropping slightly for a bit of impact and tweaking the contrast a tad.

I love to photograph events happening in my local area to submit to our local weekly newspaper - they print a selection of readers photos every week and donate money to local causes for each one printed. I have had many of these published in the newspaper including three of the Lynmouth Fin Whale (see my photostream for more photos).

Please look through and enjoy my images - everyone sees something different in the same subject.
