Falling heir to a treasure trove of family photos and memorabilia has sparked an interest in history and preservation of my family heritage. I am on a quest to research the people connected to my family tree in any way, to interact with anyone with knowledge or questions, and to share what I have found with others.

There are many more descendants out there--some of whom I know, but most of whom I probably don't know yet--who come from the same people that I do. I hope that they, in their own search for their roots, they will stumble upon this site, have their curiosity piqued, and have some of their questions answered. I hope that Flickr will prove to be a suitable platform.

In the big picture, I am concerned with permanence: What remains in our lives that has been passed down to us, intentionally or unintentionally? Thus--I am concerned that we understand ourselves: what do we not realize about ourselves, good and bad, that has "come from" somewhere in past generations?!

I am attempting here on Flickr to introduce, explore and honor our forebears--passing on the information I have about their struggles, failures and triumphs--so that the best that we have received from them gets passed to our children and grandchildren. For

"All flesh is grass,

and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.

The grass withers, the flower fades,

When the breath of the LORD blows upon it;

Surely the people are grass.

The grass withers, the flower fades,

But the word of our God stands forever."

(Is. 40: 6 - 8)

"May the circle be unbroken,

Bye and bye, Lord, bye and bye;

There's a better home a waiting

In the sky, Lord, in the sky..."

Indeed.

AND I look forward to the new heavens and new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
