My best shots of 2009

[Edit 11 June 2009]

Sorry, still haven't got round to sorting out this jumble of notes. I'm adding this edit in today because of something I have just found out - a commercial company has stolen a photo of mine for promotional use. I know it isn't nice to start with a whinge, and if you are a normal decent person just scroll down and skip this.

Please note that although I am by no means professional all my photographs are my copyright, as stated in the notices for every photo on my stream, and should definitely not be used for any commercial purpose or by any commercial enterprise without obtaining my permission first.

You can send me a flickr mail or leave a comment on the photo you want to use.

I am happy for photos to be used for non-commercial purposes by private individuals - for example, personal blogs. It is still polite to let me know first, though, and flickr terms & conditions say you should link back to my flickr page.

Under EU law, I have the moral right to be credited for my work.

Thank you, rant over!

[Edit 15 January 2009]

Ok, I've got another camera now, so hopefully I'll begin posting stuff regularly again! My profile notes are getting a bit messy - will completely update when I get some time.

do I know you?

[Edit 1 June 2007]

Unfortunately, I will not be posting on flickr any more, or at least for the forseeable future. Earlier this week I had a break-in at home while I was away at work and all my cameras, my computer and my ipod and speakers were stolen. I am not insured and cannot afford replace the goods at the moment - it's going to take some time to get back on my feet.

Thanks for your visits, and comments! I'll try to be around to comment from time to time.

I find flickr quite amazing - inspirational, educational, fun - and sometimes irritating too! A Pro account is probably the best value photographic education one can buy.

Although I've only been here a relatively short time, I value so much all the contacts and friends I have made, all the constructive comments (and the encouragement!) I have received, and the opportunity to see the wonderful work of others. Thank you!

I have enjoyed taking photographs since I was a child - but mostly just the 'point and shoot' element (I am a technophobe). Flickr is slowly helping me extend my technical abilities, something I'm now keen to explore further.

I don't do any post production stuff - concentrating on learning the camera first.

I have a Nikon D70, and 2 Nikon Nikkor lenses - 18-70mm/1:3.5-4.5 and a 50mm/1:1.4

Wish List - I think my next lens will be a wide-angle of some nature. I'd also love to try photoshop elements, if not photoshop.

I particularly like the way photography is an interest that fits seamlessly with everything else one is interested in. It has a way of getting one out into the world and really looking at things afresh.

I like travelling and would like to do even more. Everywhere I've been so far:

The above map flatters my experience of the USA. A more detailed map is below. Been to New York many times, and once to Washington State. Very much looking forward to seeing more!

Testimonials

From the moment I laid eyes on Hedgiecc's 'Denbigh Mews' shot, I knew there was something different about his work. Something which separates them from the rest. His photographs inspire me on a daily basis. And to top that all off, he's one super nice guy. I'm glad to know him.
