Cllr. Roger Ramsey was first elected to the Council in 1978 representing the former St. Edward’s Ward, which he represented until 1986 when elected to the Emerson Park Ward.

From 1984 to 1990 Cllr. Ramsey served as Leader of the Council and remained on the Board of the Council, holding many Chairmanships until 1998.

Cllr. Ramsey returned to the Council to again represent the Emerson Park Ward in 2002. Since this time Cllr. Ramsey has held many influential Cabinet positions such as Cabinet Member for Audit, Finances, Resources and Value. He also served as the Mayor of Havering for the 2009/10 Municipal Year.

Cllr. Ramsey was elected as the Leader of the Council at the Annual Meeting of Council on Wednesday 11 June 2014.
