Retired educator in southern NM -- much more time now for Civil War photography!

Ive really tried to improve my photography. I look at pictures from my first Gettysburg trip -- ugh!!! I understand composition, lighting, angles, and processing a lot better. I don't process my shots very much -- I take photos not create paintings. I simply try to tell a story and/or capture a moment. Summer 2017 -- my photo of Degolyer's Battery at Vicksburg was featured in the Civil War Trust's "Hallowed Ground" magazine!! And, Spring 2018 -- "Slocumb's Gloaming" from Chickamauga was featured in the 9th Annual New Mexico Photographic Arts Show!!

My favorite places are the five major Civil War national parks, and southern cemeteries. On my list are the central Virginia battlefields, the Shenandoah Valley, Richmond area, and Charleston/Fort Sumter -- then DC and all other points of interest!! When I finish that list, Ill start over!!! Made it to Vicksburg in April 2015 and am headed to the Valley this fall. See you there!!

A few new places -- Donelson and the entire Nashville area -- Gettsyburg and Monocacy again -- all of the Fredericksburg area fields -- Richmond, Petersburg, and Appomattox soon!!!

See you at Fredericksburg November 2018!! Email me at hartshorne_m@yahoo.com
