I finished my foundation degree in commercial photography at the Arts Institute Bournemouth intending to get into forensics.
I have already completed a work placement with Dorset Police County Division Command Centre working in their forensics lab and CSI department. Which was probably the best work experience i have ever had.
Given the current economic climate, the redundancies in the public sector and the lack of actual recruitment in the CSI careers in forensics are now unlikely for the next three to four years.
Due to this i have got myself a job as a cruise ship photographer, which should hold me over for the next few years until they are recruiting again. But from the rumors i have heard, i will have to do eighteen months as am unpaid volunteer for the police, get a job as a Police Community Support Officer for a couple of years, work as a normal police officer for a few more years till i can get a job in the CSI, again for a few more years, before i can transfer to Forensics. Which is one thing i am not up for doing.
So for the time being i will work on the cruises then see where that takes me.
