Harpy and I have our roots in the same small town in Northern California. It's the kind of small town where people can know a little too much about your business and the degrees of separation are more like one or two. Yet, before flickr, I am pretty sure I've never met her. I am amazed by the consistent quality of her work, her personal vision and her strong sense of style. Her images inspire me. I've been on flickr for about as long as a fellow can be, and I've never written a Testimonial, so it's fitting that Harpy is my first. Harpy, cheers.

tonight i had a hard time sleeping. i like to look at harpy's pictures when i can't sleep and listen to really good music. well tonight i was looking at her profile page because even that is kindof interesting and brilliant and i noticed all of these "testimonial" things. i figured i'd leave one that says, "harpy rules" because she does. that is her photography in two words.

So get this... I've never written a testimonial about anyone before, but for some reason, I feel compelled to write one today. harpy's my friend, and I don’t say that lightly. Granted, she’s a friend I haven't had the opportunity to meet personally, but one that I think about quite a bit, day to day. In the way I look at things, if only by simple contact on this amazing site, a flickrite gets into your brain enough to come up in your everyday thoughts, not just when you’re thinking about photography, that says something about them. Something profound about them, given how the World seems to fly by nowadays. She sees things in a way that has its similarities to my view, but if she’s anything, she’s unique. Her own person. And I would bet most that know her would feel the same as I do about that. Basically, what I am trying to say is that in my estimation, harpy is one of the greats on this site. And I don't say that lightly, either. : )

Harpy takes pictures. So do a lot of people. But when looking at the ones she takes you will discover that there is always something to be found in them. It may be as obvious as the perfect title for a single moment of her day or as hidden as a certain emotion that will creep up on you. Her lollipop series is probably the most brilliant series of pictures ever and one day she will be famous for it. Her twisted sense of humour is perfectly captured in that series. Just be sure not to start looking through her stream if you don't have at least 5 hours to spend!

harpy is an artist and a poet, though i'm sure she would emphatically deny being either of those things. :) her stream is full of life. the pictures have unspoken words and the words have a life of their own. she is raw and open in the way she sees and in the way she shares what she sees. pure true real. her images are the kind that move you, they're the kind that change you, they're the kind that linger. they're the kind that books and prints are made of. they're the kind that should be seen by everyone. harpy doesn't take photos for me or you, though she's probably stoked, and i'd even say surprised, when someone likes them. she takes them because she doesn't know how NOT to. it's her passion. it's her blood. it's her life. it's her love. thank goodness for harpy and her eyes. thank good ness. :)
