Hello, from West Sacramento, California! I am thrilled that you are here to see what I'm about. I have been chasing nostalgia since 2007 and posting them on Flickr. See beauty in ordinary and extraordinary old things found around us. :- )
For people who are thinking of using my photos and posting them elsewhere, please have the courtesy to ask me for a quick consent first, if you would be so kind. It makes me happy to know that you like any of my photos posted on Flickr and wanting to use them for whatever the purpose.
I have retired from my job as of January 31st, 2019. After working forty-five combined years in private and public sectors it was time for me to call it quit. From here on I'll be living on fixed income but be totally free - be in control of my own life without anyone telling me what to do or how to be - and have some real fun in life. Photography-wise I'll be posting whatever I desire fit for the day. I want to be free on my own stream as well.
Recently, I have decided to re-post my own photos from the past on Flickr - mostly going back a decade or more but some are newer - in case some of my dear existing members and newly joined Flickr subscribers missed them originally they are going to be posted new and improved. Since I was a novice to digital world back in 2007 when I joined Flickr the post processing of most my earlier photos were still at learning stages. Some were horrible... Anyhow, I'm hoping my photos are looking better on my re-posts. Please don't hesitate co comment if you like. (Updated 07-01-2019)

I'm an addicted amateur photographer who like to shoot whatever I see as interesting. My favorites are neon signs, signs, people, nature, animals, arts and old things (antiques and historic) but just about anything I see as interesting.
My career fields used to be very much art related. I studied fine and commercial arts. Always wanted to be a full-time artist of some kind. But, I despised doing anything others told me to do in art. Commissioned works were the worst. Money was good but the free spirit inside told me to do what I like even if it was for fun and for free. I haven't started on a full time comeback to the art field as of yet but I'm hoping that I soon will.
My regular work keeps me busy with overtime, when I get both days off on a weekend I'm just nothing but a happyshooter around town. I do spent more time than I want in looking at pictures of others to see what is up. Yet, your photos keep me totally inspired to do more with mine. We have so much freedom to post whatever we like here in the good old USA. Unconditionally, honor, respect and cherish freedom!! We are so fortunate to be able to enjoy it.
Diversity of photos posted is just amazing. Frozen moments in time, memories from the past, celebration of life... I really need to appreciate and enjoy the time and opportunities I was given every day and each moment of my life.
The photos added to my favorites from you are my tribute and compliments to the moments in our life. I thank you for the photos you are able to share with us and love looking at what you have captured. We have connected and you were part of my life at that moment in time. Together, we made history! I hope you enjoy looking at my photos as well.
Happyshooting, everyone, and have fun doing it.

Without fail, when I see one of Joe's photos pop up on my Contacts List, I open it to discover something great. He has a real knack for finding the unusual, the overlooked, the absurd and turning it into art, and I always look forward to seeing what he will photograph next.
Joe (happyshooter) is a fantastic photographer. I really enjoy his work and look forward to seeing what roadside icons he will masterfully capture and share with us. Keep up the great work, Joe! Your making people aware of a huge part of our American heritage, and your creating fantastic images while you do it!

Sometimes I have to wait till I'm moved to write a testimonial. I only do it when I feel it and I knew I must for Joe, the Happy Shooter. What a catalog of images I have found here. What a pleasure to see and even feel them. His stream has inspired me. I've even stolen some techniques, Joe has the capacity to make me better and you, too. There's always little treasures to be found here, things that won't be seen again. A catalog of Joe's little section of America, well seen, faultlessly composed and elegantly presented. Enjoy.
