Maggie Sherman is an artist who has been making art in unexpected places since 1980, provoking people to think about their lives and their values. She has been a pioneer in the art of community made art creating “legacy projects” that revitalize the community and become a celebration of place. She has received recognition for her work in Smithsonian Magazine, The New Yorker, and The Boston Globe. She uses the “get gooey & giggle” approach to engage people and draw them into a process that allows them to see themselves and each other in a new way. Her participants have included factory workers, management consultants, elders, stars of the Grand Ole Opry, and children all of whom portray their inner being through self-embellished images of their physical selves.
Maggie is also known as the licensed character, Honey, The Professional Waitress®, who enlivens conferences, trade shows, conventions, and private parties.
